To possess the gates of the enemy means to exercise the authority given to us in Christ Jesus in order to take full possession of what already belongs to us in Him. Until the defeat of the enemy is enforced, progress remains impossible.
God is revealed in Scripture as a Man of war, and if we are described as gods in the Psalms, then we are likewise designed to function as spiritual warriors. Entry into the Promised Land is impossible without possessing the gates of the enemy; therefore, we must become skillful in dealing with opposition.
One major way to possess the gates of the enemy is through right and corresponding action. Abraham was not only a covenant man but also a man of war who acted decisively (Genesis 14:14). We cannot emerge as New Testament Abrahams without contending as Abraham did.
Delay and passivity empower the enemy. If you wait and do nothing, the enemy will outrun you. Possessing weapons alone is not enough—victory depends on the ability to deploy them skillfully (Psalm 78:9). It is not the possession of weapons that puts the enemy to flight, but the effective engagement of those weapons.
Possessing the gates of the enemy means taking rulership in every sphere of life—business, education, career, and every legitimate endeavor. Nothing produces lasting results when done only once. To become a champion and remain one, continuous practice and consistent effort are required. The moment you stop doing what works, results begin to fade.
Consistent right action is the solution to many of life’s predicaments. Many believers waste impartations and prophetic words because they fail to translate them into deliberate action. Instead of describing your situation, declare what the Word of God says.
Do not allow bodily feelings to dictate your actions. Rather, bring your body under the control of your recreated spirit. Until you attempt a thing, you will never discover what you are capable of accomplishing.
Advancement does not happen accidentally—it must be enforced. Consistent, disciplined, and aggressive right action produces results because there is always an adversary to contend with. There is no victory without confrontation (Judges 20:18).
Continuing in the same pattern while expecting different results leads to stagnation. Although Jesus has paid the ultimate price, believers must take corresponding action to enforce the victory He secured (Matthew 11:12).
The challenges you face are not ordinary; there is often an adversary behind them. Therefore, it is time to rise up, take responsibility, and fight to enforce your victory.
