Building Greater Intimacy with God Part 3

The greatest need of every man is more of God and less of self. God blesses those who recognize that He is their greatest need.

We must understand that the life we live is ultimately controlled by the invisible realm, and this reality demands that we pursue God above all else. You cannot truly find your place in life—or even in a city like Lagos—unless you first give God His rightful place in your life.

When the God-factor is in place, people reign in life. Intimacy with God reshapes how you think, act, and speak, conforming you to His nature. When you allow God to take charge of your life, He in turn makes a way for you.

To be filled with the fullness of God, we must be sanctified and cleansed, because God is holy. Once we are cleansed inside and out, our lives become His indwelling place (1 John 4:4). When God dwells within us, our lives become a wonder, because the Almighty Himself is backing us up.

Overcoming Sin

  • Psalm 119:9-11 teaches that the Word of God keeps us pure and shields us from sin.
  • The Word sanctifies us just like water cleanses (Ephesians 5:26).
  • The Word renews our mind and transforms our inner man.

We must also recognize that sin is not a natural phenomenon but a supernatural force at work in man (Ephesians 2:1). To overcome sin:

  1. Hide God’s Word in your heart.
  2. Abstain from every form of evil.
  3. Meditate daily on the Word, allowing it to cleanse your heart from toxic thoughts.
  4. Listen to the voice of God behind His Word, for every Word carries His life-giving voice.

Sin always comes with consequences—it attracts before it destroys.

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Sin is a tool in the hands of Satan to waste destinies. If you do not deal with sin, sin will surely deal with you.

To preserve your destiny, you must learn to look away from what does not belong to you, so that what belongs to you will come to you.
